Dana Belletiere, LICSW, MSED

Welcome to my practice! I’m so glad that you found your way here.

I’ve been fortunate to have extensive experience working in a wide array of mental health areas. Since I’ve been in private practice, my client base has self-selected primarily to clientele seeking support with eating disorders and related issues. I primarily integrate Narrative, Psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems treatment modalities in my work. I am a good fit for clients seeking support for the following concerns:

Eating & Body Image Issues and Eating Disorders

Disordered eating is rarely about food. When clients seek me out for support with eating, we work on a variety of related issues, such as perfectionism, control issues and anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional overwhelm, difficulty setting boundaries, and challenges prioritizing their own wants and needs. Through a process of self-reflection, self-acceptance, and self-empowerment, I help clients identify the confidence and capabilities they already possess, and improve their relationship to food and their bodies. It is my privilege to help clients identify and nurture the strong, unique, bold individuals that they already are!

I have supported clients coping with the following concerns and diagnoses:

  • Binge Eating Disorder
  • Bulimia Nervosa
  • Anorexia Nervosa & Atypical Anorexia Nervosa
  • Restrictive eating patterns
  • Orthorexia Nervosa
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
  • Compulsive exercise
  • Obsessive thoughts and behaviors related to diet and exercise
  • Body image concerns

I am a body positive therapist, and emphasis overall wellness and physical, mental, and emotional health. I do not stress weight loss as a primary goal for treatment.

Anxiety & Stress Management

I help clients to get in touch with the origins of their anxiety and/or perfectionism, and aid them in understanding these tendencies and providing them with healthier outlets. I support clients in effectively handling stress by slowing down and living more mindfully and authentically. I work with clients  to foster their natural gifts and abilities and minimize emotional and behavioral responses that are no longer beneficial to them. I have worked extensively with clients with trauma histories and utilize treatment modalities tailored towards healing the fragmentation that sometimes results from trauma.

I have supported clients coping with the following concerns and diagnoses:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Agoraphobia
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Panic Disorder
  • Specific Phobias
  • PTSD
  • Stress Management/Overwhelm
  • Perfectionism

Life Changes & Transitions

I support clients that are seeking change and personal growth, but are struggling to gather the self-esteem, courage, and readiness to take the leap. I  encourage out-of-the-box thinking, and aid clients in identifying their personal value systems and creating their own rules for life. I am often sought out to help clients at times of natural life transition.

I have supported clients coping with the following life changes/transitions:

  • Adjusting to college/coping with school stressors
  • Considering new job or career
  • Divorce or relationship changes
  • Sexual/Gender identity exploration
  • Identity development
  • Questioning personal values
